Ros Moger Terry Furlong Scholarships

This is a named award under the Canon Collins Scholarships for Postgraduate study in Education in South Africa.

Ros Moger and Terry Furlong were inspirational London educationalists with a strong belief in the value of education as a tool to challenge injustice.

Since 2001 friends and family have raised funds in their memory and we have awarded scholarships in their name, especially for study in education, health, humanities and the arts. To date more than 120 people have benefited from these scholarships.

In 2021, this scholarship will only be supporting postgraduate studies within the area of Education, with particular focus on improving quality and access to education in southern Africa.

Eligibility criteria and the application process are the same as for a Canon Collins Scholarship RMTF for Postgraduate study in Education in South Africa. Please see this page for more information on how to apply for this scholarship.

What we offer

In 2021 most awards will be valued at R20,000 to R120,000 depending on student circumstances. We support both full and part-time study and will consider applications from those who wish to study by distance learning. We will provide funding for up to a maximum of two years for Masters and three years for PhD.

We also organise an annual conference for current scholars, and hold several smaller events throughout the year. Scholarship holders are expected to participate in these activities and to become part of and contribute to our network.
