I’m a refugee from another part of Africa, resident in one of the listed countries. Can I apply for the scholarship?
Yes, as long as you have refugee status and the right to remain in one of the listed countries.
I’m from Ghana. Why can’t I apply?
Ghana is not within the initial remit of the scheme but the eligible countries will be under review.
Why can’t I take more than one course to start with?
Initially you may only take one course to show your commitment and capability.
How long will it take me to complete the MBA and how many hours work does it require?
Scholarship recipients will be expected to complete the MBA programme within 5 years. Each course requires approximately 200 hours of study.
Do I visit Edinburgh?
No, the course is by distance learning entirely.
I don’t have a computer; what do I do?
All the learning content is contained in the printed materials. The website provides case studies, past papers, access to faculty and other students. All students must have access to the internet in order to access these extra resources and to allow administrative communication by email. It is not mandatory that all students own a PC with an internet connection; however you will need intermittent access.
Where will I take the exam?
You will be allocated to an examination centre in your region, arranged as near to your location as practical. Examinations are held in June and December each year. Each exam for each course is a three-hour written examination
When will I know if my scholarship application has been successful?
There are two scholarship application rounds per year. The closing date for the first round is 30th September, with applicants notified by the end of December; the closing date for the second round is 30th March, with applicants notified by the end of June.

Canon Collins Trust is partnering with Edinburgh Business School in order to make the best use of their expertise for selecting and shortlisting students. Final decisions rest with Edinburgh Business School.
Do I need to secure a place at Edinburgh Business School before applying for a scholarship from Canon Collins Trust?
Applicants are not required to apply to EBS before applying for a scholarship. However, if an applicant is unsuccessful in their scholarship application and still wants to study for the MBA they will need to order the course and begin studying as an independent learner, as is the usual practice for the MBA at EBS.
Should I type or handwrite my scholarship application form?
Application forms can be typed or handwritten, but please ensure that all handwritten applications are fully legible.
