Scientific And Industrial Leadership Initiative (SAILI)

The Scientific and Industrial Leadership Initiative (SAILI) is an educational non-governmental organisation based in Cape Town. Started in 1996 by the Western Cape Tertiary Institutions Trust, SAILI aims to increase the number of previously disadvantaged people in leadership positions in Science and Industry in such a way as to benefit the well-being of South Africans as a whole.

Canon Collins Trust's support for SAILI's Inservice Training (INSET) began in 2000. This project sought to improve the pass rate of learners in the Western Cape, through providing Mathematics and Science inservice training for unqualified and newly qualified educators teaching Higher Grade Mathematics and Science to Grades 10, 11 and 12. The training helped educators to teach these subjects with confidence and skill.

Recently SAILI entered into a partnership agreement with the Western Cape Education Department's Education Management and Development Centres which will help with identifying and recruiting educators to attend the programme.
