Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)
In many areas of Africa lack of infrastructure has been identified as a barrier to development, limiting trade and access to services. CILT aims to combat this problem by improving knowledge of transport and logistics across the globe.
In Zimbabwe CILT has established a national council to address issues associated with logistics. It also offers a certificate in transport management for which 100 students in Harare and Bulawayo are studying at any one time. An absence of textbooks in Zimbabwe, along with a scarcity in the foreign currency required to order them, meant that Canon Collins Trust stepped in to provide the course materials in 2005.
